Zakkiya Khan Ceramic Artist

About My Work

I am a ceramic artist, educator, and researcher based in Brighton, United Kingdom. I hand-build vessels and sculptural forms using clay as my medium.

Rooted in my lived experience of migration, I work with clay as an embodied medium, translating memory, displacement, and emotional landscapes into form. My practice is intuitive, guided by a deep trust in the stories held within the body.

Nature recurs throughout my work, both in form and surface. In the context of displacement and diaspora, nature becomes a grounding force, an enduring reminder of an ancient human birth-right: the right to exist, beyond borders, systems, and colonisation.

At its core, my practice asks a simple yet profound question:
How do I belong?
